| Belief in StarClan |

★★☆☆☆

"I recall my mother telling me stories of StarClan as a kit. They sounded so wonderful back then. I grew up looking up to the stars for guidance, but I suppose we can't really do that anymore now that they've turned their backs on us. Who knows? Maybe they'll come around to guide us again?"

| Stats |

Strength: ★★★☆☆
Attack: ★★☆☆☆
Speed: ★★☆☆☆
Tactics: ★★★☆☆
Endurance: ★★★☆☆
Defense: ★★★☆☆

| Personality |

[ Friendly / Kind | Lazy | Gullible | Optimistic | Easy-going | Sarcastic | Moody ]

[ Friendly / Kind ] "Hi, I'm Pollenheart! It's nice to meet you~"
Pollenheart is quite sociable and will speak to anyone who wants to speak with her. She enjoys being around other cats and doesn't mind large gatherings and the like. If she spots a cat who requires assistance, she'll probably go and try to help them.. just as long as she isn't 'busy' doing nothing.

[ Lazy ] "Hm? Eh. I'll do it later.."
Procrastination ho! Pollenheart is pretty lazy and often times doesn't do anything unless she really needs to and she generally wont go out of her way to do extra work around camp. Unless she's reminded of it, if you tell her to do something she'll probably forget about it within a matter of minutes. It's not that she doesn't care, she just doesn't care at the moment.

[ Gullible ] "Hey, no fair! You tricked me!"
Pollenheart is quite gullible and often falls for tricks. Because of this, she can sometimes be tricked into doing work even when she really didn't want to do it in the first place. Some may say she's overly-trusting, but she thinks that it's best to give everyone the benefit of the doubt before riding them off as some conniving jerk.

[ Optimistic ] "Just look on the bright side of things; at least it isn't raining!"
Tail up and smile on her face is generally how you're going to find Pollenheart. She always seems to look at the bright side of things. Even when things seem to be taking a turn for the worse, she still finds a way to cling onto some hope that things will all be better in the end. She likes to consider herself as moral support to the Clan, but they probably all think otherwise.

[ Easy-Going ] "Nah, it's best to just go with it."
It takes quite a lot to get under Pollenheart's fur as not much seems to bother her. She's very laid back and tends to just go with the flow. If you asked her why nothing bothers her, she'll probably just tell you because there's really no need to let someone get under your fur about something that didn't even matter in the first place. Because of this, she often times doesn't participate to join the little skirmishes that the clan ends up in but she wont object if she is called on by a figure of authority.

[ Sarcastic ] "Oh yeah, I'm suuure you did."
With a roll of her eyes and a swish of her tail, Pollenheart can go from kind and cheerful to playful and sarcastic. Sarcasm is something commonly used in her speech which can sometimes make her come out to be a jerk, but she doesn't really mean anything by what she says. She knows when to watch her mouth though, as she doesn't want to put on tick duty with the apprentices. She did her time, and she is never doing that again.

[ Moody ] "Okay, yeah. You're cool. Go ahead, see if I care, but don't go crying to me when you mess up!"
Despite her cheerful outlook and laid-back attitude, Pollenheart does indeed get riled up from time to time. She's prone to small outbursts that normally end in her stalking off and laying down somewhere. When she does get mad, however, she generally doesn't stay mad and will go back and talk to the cat as if nothing happened between them.

| Biography |

- Kithood: It's a Bright World Out There. -

Pollenkit and her siblings, Sunkit and Gingerkit were born mid-newleaf on a bright summers day. The flowers had just started to bloom, filling the air with pollen which gave the kit her namesake. It wasn't long before Pollenkit and her siblings had their eyes open and wanted to see what lived outside of the nursery. Honeyleaf, wanting to keep her kits safe, didn't allow it until the kits were a little over three moons old. Finally, her mother deemed her and her siblings ready to explore outside of the den.
"I-It's so... bright!" Was the first think Pollenkit squeaked when she padded outside. She and her siblings played outside for hours on end, basking in the warm sun and fighting off invisible intruders. This was the day Pollenkit decided she was going to be the best warrior she could be.

- Apprenticeship Chapter One: Procrastination and Discipline. -

At six moons, Pollenkit, Sunkit and Gingerkit were all ready to become apprentices. The stood around, waiting for them to be assigned to a mentor as giddy as the cats before them. Pollenkit nearly squealed with joy when she finally heard her name called by the leader. She was assigned to Midnighttail, a white she-cat with a black tail. At first, Pollenpaw was a little weary of her mentor as she never spoke to her before, but soon warmed up to her.
Midnighttail not only taught Pollenpaw the ways of a warrior, but also the ways of sarcasm. No, Pollenpaw didn't just get it on her own. She picked it up from who she viewed as "the coolest cat on earth". But training wasn't all jokes and happiness. Around her second moon of her apprenticeship, Pollenpaw started getting lazy and slacked off as much as she could. Midnighttail snapped at her a couple of times, but this didn't deter Pollenpaw from staying friendly and aloof.

- Apprenticeship Chapter Two: Taking a Breath With No Air to Breathe. -

- 9 moons -

Three moons after her apprenticeship started, Pollenpaw and her brother, Sunpaw had started to develop a strong sibling rivalry. They had their sister, Gingerpaw, keep score of who was 'the better apprentice' but soon came to a tie in their third moon. The searched and searched for something to help settle the score until Sunpaw came up with a grand idea: "Whoever catches a fish first, wins." Pollenpaw quickly agreed and the three young cats made their way to the river bordering ShadowClan and RiverClan.
They searched up and down the river to be sure no patrols would catch them and the two golden tabbies quickly got into position to catch a fish. They sat there for what felt like hours, failed attempt after failed attempt until Pollenpaw felt something slip between her numbing paws. She let out a shriek as she attempted to grab it, soon finding herself plummeting into the moving water.
The she-cat struggled against the current, but it soon took her over and she found herself dropping low into the river. She sunk deep down into the river, her eyes straining to see the sunlight when a dark figure started swimming towards her. Pollenpaw soon blacked out to find herself waking up on the riverbed, her siblings worried around her with dry pelts. She asked who her savior was but no cat knew. Pollenheart is still unsure of who saved her that day, but wants to find out to thank him, or her, in person.

- Warrior: Shunning of the Stars. -

- 12 moons -

"I, Halfstar, leader of ShadowClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Pollenpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Asked the heavily scarred leader to the smaller pallid she-cat before her. Her eyes danced over towards her siblings, Sunshade and Gingerwing, who had recieved their warrior named just before her.
"I do." Spoke the golden tabby, her eyes flickering back to the ShadowClan leader. She tried to avoid looking at her scar, though it was slightly difficult despite growing up looking at it. There was just something about looking at a cat missing half her face which almost made you wish you became a boring ol' medicine cat instead.
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Pollenpaw, from this moment you will be known as Pollenheart. StarClan honors your cheerful nature and positive outlook, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ShadowClan."
Pollenpaw became Pollenheart at the same time as her siblings. She passed the warriors exam with ease and was pleased with her new name. 'Pollenheart.' she often spoke in her head. It had a nice ring to it. It was very feminine and elegant as opposed to what other clans thought to be the 'norm' for ShadowClan names like 'Ratscar' and 'Deadhope'. Her brother often teased her saying they were going to name her 'Pollensleep' due to her always lazing around, but was glad to see he was joking. Being called 'Pollensleep' sure would have been embarrassing. Might as well have named her 'Sleepyhead' while they were at it.

- 17 moons -

It was now five moons since her warrior ceremony and Pollenheart was still going on with her days as a warrior, going on patrols and hunting with her denmates but something changed.
"StarClan has left us." She watched the scorned look on Halfstar's face as the leader announced the heart-stopping news. Left? What did she mean they left? Why would they leave? Though Pollenheart didn't often think of StarClan, she always knew they were there and the thought of them leaving the Clans worried her slightly. She herself never got to speak with any of the starry warriors before, but she knew the medicine cats and leaders looked up to them greatly for advice and mentoring of their own. An uproar started, though the battle scarred leader left her podium and returned to her den as the rest of the clan spoke amongst themselves, trying to figure out what to think of the new ordeal. Days went on and the golden tabby soon shrugged the hole thing off off. 'They'll return someday.' She thought to herself continuously. 'They have to.'

- 24 moons -

Time went on and soon the she-cat had completely forgotten about the fact StarClan as left the clans; possibly for good. She continued on with her days as usual; hunting, patrolling and bugging whichever cat was in her radar. Even though she knew the clans would go on, Pollenheart always felt something tugging at her but she didn't know why. Some kind of worry for her clan. If StarClan was no long with then, what would happen if their leader lost a life? Would she die like a regular cat? Or will StarClan stay true and continue on with her nine? It was hard to know now that the starry warriors refused to communicate with the clans, no matter the position. Were they really gone for good? Or were they just testing them to see if they were capable of continuing on with their lives without the guidance of their ancestors? Never the less, the silence continued, leaving the cats with themselves and their faces turned from the stars and onto the paths before them. They were in control of what was to happen next, not the group of stars living above them. It was their turn to decide.

- 29 moons -

"Pollenheart, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from Midnighttail, and you have shown yourself to be hopeful and eager to teach. You will be the mentor of Novapaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Novapaw." Spoke a brown she-cat, keeping her head raised high with pride for her clan. Pollenheart knew of Halfstar's resentment towards their starry ancestors, so it was slightly surprising for her to continue on with ceremonies such as these; not that any cat minded. A large grey and black striped she-cat stepped forward towards the pallid molly, her chest puffed out her eyes carrying the same sense of pride with them. It was understandable for Novapaw to be prideful this day as today would be the day she began her training to become a warrior. It seemed only yesterday a patrol came back in the midst of leafbare with the silver tabby, who was much younger and smaller at the time.
Bowing down, the golden tabby touched her pink nose with Novapaw's own, signaling her becoming the other's mentor. She felt her heart began to pound. She had never thought Halfstar would chose her to be a mentor of one of the new apprentices in a million years. She expected someone more like Fogbreath, who had more experience than she but there she was, completing the apprentice ceremony, a large milestone in every kits life. Raising her head, Pollenheart turned her green gaze onto the crowd for a brief moment as they began to chant the name of the newly named 'Novapaw'.

:bulletpurple::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletyellow: | Honeyleaf | NPC | "What can I say? My mother has always been nothing but kind to my siblings and I. I really respect her for that and will care about her no matter what happens."

:bulletpurple::bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletyellow: | Pinerush | NPC | "My dad was always kind of too busy with his warrior duties to spend a whole lot of him with me and my littermates, but I don't really blame him for it. We go on hunts together sometimes, so I think he's trying to make up for all the time he missed when I was younger."

:bulletpurple::bulletgreen: | Sunshade | NPC | "Pff- that big oaf? Let me tell you that my brother is a competitive hot-head who really needs to cool his jets once in a while but if it weren't for him, I don't think I'd be half the warrior I am today."

:bulletpurple::bulletgreen: | Gingerwing | NPC | "Ginger's always been so calm all the time and I don't know how she does it. I mean, sure it's nice just lazing around and everything but I don't think I've ever seen her angry! That aside, her and Sunny are some of the best buds a girl could ask for."

:bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletpink: | Frecklesnow | ~Shudderz | "Freckle is such a sweet cat, I don't know where to start. I always saw her hanging around with her sister, so I never really spoke to her but now that I have I don't know what I was waiting for. She showed me this little route she has where she leaped from tree-to-tree like a ThunderClan cat and I don't know whether I should call her crazy for trying that in the first place or awesome because she was able to pull it off so well."
:bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletpink::bulletyellow: | "I-I can't believe she's dead... We had just started to really know each other.. who'd have known her little cold would have developed into greencough.. Oh, Freckle. I'm so sorry.. If I'd known this would have happened, I would never have let us sleep out under the start like that.."

:bulletblue::bulletblue: | Cottonpetal | *Miss-Smutty | "I just want to say that Cotton may be one of the prettiest cats I've ever met. Despite the fact she can't actually talk, you can still understand what she's trying to say and her sweet personality makes up for it."

:bulletblue::bulletyellow: | Fogbreath | ~Buttslap | "Ever since I was an apprentice, I've always looked up to Fog. Even though he lost one of his legs, he's still so determined to become a great warrior and it doesn't seem to bother him at all. Even though he looks kinda mean, I'd still like to get to know him better."

:bulletblue::bulletblue: | Nightfeather | *F0RESTFIRE | "You can say what you want about Night, but although she's pretty quiet and not very outgoing she's still great to be around. She never really has much to say, but that's alright. I just think she needs the right cat to open up to."

:bulletorange::bulletblue: | Novapaw | =Serianmae | "I was honestly a little bit shocked when Halfstar called me up to become Nova's mentor, though I'm really glad she did. I don't know much about her, but she doesn't seem half bad. I'm looking forward to teaching how to hunt and stuff.. I just hope I don't look too much like a slacker. ehe.."

[ RiverClan ]

:bulletblue::bulletblue::bulletyellow::bulletpink: | Duskfury | *iDawnDusk | "So he was the one who saved me. I was kind of worried about how he would react to being the one who saved me as an apprentice since I guess that's what RiverClan cats do for a living, but he was actually really happy to finally meet me. He tried to teach me how to swim and I was really worried at first, but he's a really good teacher. I'm not too sure about how well I did, but I'm glad I at least know the basic strokes so I can keep my head above the water."

[ WindClan ]

:bulletblue::bulletblue: | Flickerspark | ~KuroKitsuFox | "Sparky and I met at a gathering and let me tell you he is a pretty big flirt but don't let that throw you off. He's actually a pretty nice guy and told me quite a lot about his past which was a little surprising since most cats snap at me when I ask so much personal things when I first meet them."

| Roleplay Example |

Example from my Coalgaze app for %The-Blue-Tides

Anywhere between:

A shadowy figure crept silently through the grass-covered plains that surrounded the territory. A soft call of a meadow-lark could be heard in the distance, filling the air with it's gentle song. The small tom paused and opened his mouth slightly and tasted the air for the sent of pray. He waited there for a short moment before he closed his mouth and turned his head to the left, pricking his ears forward, listening intently. He remained stationary in the tall grass, waiting for the sign of a rabbit, his muscles tense and ready for a chase. A rustling in the tufts nearby could faintly be heard from where he was sitting, telling him that his instincts were right; a rabbit was near. 'Alright. So the rabbit could be anywhere from a few whisker-lengths to a few tail-lengths ahead of me...' the tom thought, bundling his haunches. 'So I guess it would make most sense to pounce right in-between those distances and change my positioning from there.' The black cat tensed his muscles and leaped forward, his paws extended with unsheathed claws. He landed in the grass with a quiet yet distinct thump, and a rabbit could be heard giving a cry of distress and darting off to the right ahead of him. The tom twisted swiftly on his paws and started the chase. It didn't last long though. The rabbit was young, and the cat was too fast for it. He lunged at his prey and with one swift bite, it was over. He had won.

to this:

Leaving camp, the dark tom wondered if he were doing the right thing. Sure, Earthfang was going to worry when she awakes to find him not there beside her, but he knew he wouldn't feel better until he at least spoke with the cat who had terrified and attacked his family. Although he wouldn't admit it to anyone who asked, Coalgaze had never been in any large fights before and couldn't say he had any major enemies.. well, until now. Despite the fact he had never truly met the Tiger before, he has heard the stories and saw what kind of things he can do for absolutely no reason at all. Attacking a she-cat is one thing, but also threatening her young kit? That was taking things way too far, even for a cat with his kind of reputation. The tom continue padding through the tall grass, only accompanied by the soft, satisfying crunch the grass made as he pressed on. He tried to think back to the gatherings to recall if he had ever seen the battle-scarred cat and was able to remember the large tom quite well. Against the fact there were so many cats at the gatherings, Tigersun was always very easy to spot; his large, golden tabby figure sticking out like a sore thumb. Keeping his pace slow, Coalgaze though up multiple strategies he could use if things came to it. The tiger-like tom was surely twice his size or larger, so his hits would sting and possibly knock him off his paws, so the dark tom knew the only advantage he would have is his impeccable speed. He wasn't a very hard-hitter himself, but he figured he would be able to stand his ground so long as he avoided as many hits as possible. As he planned out tactics, his mind started to roam and shuddered at the thought of having as many enemies as the golden tom must have. He's obviously able to fend them off, but the black feline didn't want to think about what it would be like to worry about being attacked at any given moment.
A smooth, rushing sound echoed from the grasslands ahead of him as his mind was brought back into reality. Before the tom knew it, he was minutes away from the RiverClan border. He wasn't sure if he would even find the cat hes looking for, but it was worth a shot just to get rid of the feeling in his stomach when he thought of what happened. Earthfang was one of the only cats to ever really enjoy his company and the raven warrior was planning on doing anything to keep her safe and to keep from something like that from happening to his little family again. He knew Crowkit wasn't his actual son, but he was close enough to it and that was all that really mattered. Coalgaze's bright, golden gaze glanced around at the land ahead of him in search of a golden tabby pelt. Another though occurred to him while he was searching that made his heart feel cold. What if he died? Earthfang had already lost her first mate and the tom didn't want to have to put her though that again. And what about Crowkit? He would have to grow up without a father and since the clan knows he's not WindClan in the slightest, the surely wouldn't treat him or his mother very kindly if the dark warrior were to die. Shaking the dreadful through away, Coalgaze stopped in his place and stared off at the rippling river before him, taking shelter in a patch of tall grass as he waited for any kinds of life to emerge from the other side.
